Analysis of Concentrically Braced Frames Under Seismic Loads

Concentrically Braced Frames (CBFs) develop ductility through inelastic actions in braces. The braces will yield in tension and will buckle due to compression when acting under lateral loads, such as wind load and seismic loads. SAP2000 is used as a tool to analyze CBFs under gravity loads and seismic loads. Braces will act as a sacrificial element in the frame. These are the weakest element of the structure; they are made to reach their maximum capacity in order to design the most appropriate beams and columns. By implementing Backbone curves at each brace, a non-linear model will be obtained for a more realistic analysis of the behaviors of CBFs.
